چکیده

We investigate the theoretical feasibility of near-optimal, distributed sleep scheduling in energyconstrained sensor networks with pairwise sensor redundancy. In this setting, an optimal sleep schedule is equivalent to an optimal fractional domatic partition of the associated redundancy graph. We present a set of realistic assumptions on the structure of the communication and redundancy relations; for the family of networks meeting these assumptions, we develop an efficient distributed approximation scheme for sleep scheduling. For any ǫ > 0, we demonstrate that it is possible to schedule the sensing activities of the nodes in a local and distributed manner so that the ratio of the optimum lifetime to the achieved lifetime of the network is at most 1+ǫ. The computational effort (time, memory and communication) required at each node depends on ǫ and the parameters of the network family, but given so-called anchor nodes (a set of nodes meeting certain density constraints) and locally unique node identifiers, the effort is independent of the actual network at hand; in particular, the required effort at each node remains constant as the size of the network is scaled up.

A JOINT DUTY CYCLE SCHEDULING AND ENERGY AWARE ROUTING APPROACH BASED ON EVOLUTIONARY GAME FOR WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKS

Network throughput and energy conservation are two conflicting important performance metrics for wireless sensor networks. Since these two objectives are in conflict with each other, it is difficult to achieve them simultaneously. In this paper, a joint duty cycle scheduling and energy aware routing approach is proposed based on evolutionary game theory which is called DREG. Making a trade-off ...

Distributed Sleep Scheduling in Wireless Sensor Networks via Fractional Domatic Partitioning

We consider setting up sleep scheduling in sensor networks. We formulate the problem as an instance of the fractional domatic partition problem and obtain a distributed approximation algorithm by applying linear programming approximation techniques. Our algorithm is an application of the Garg-Könemann (GK) scheme that requires solving an instance of the minimum weight dominating set (MWDS) prob...

Sleep scheduling with expected common coverage in wireless sensor networks

Sleep scheduling, which is putting some sensor nodes into sleep mode without harming network functionality, is a common method to reduce energy consumption in dense wireless sensor networks. This paper proposes a distributed and energy efficient sleep scheduling and routing scheme that can be used to extend the lifetime of a sensor network while maintaining a user defined coverage and connectiv...

Design and evaluation of two distributed methods for sensors placement in Wireless Sensor Networks

Adequate coverage is one of the main problems for distributed wireless sensor networks and The effectiveness of that highly depends on the sensor deployment scheme. Given a finite number of sensors, optimizing the sensor deployment will provide sufficient sensor coverage and save power of sensors for movement to target location to adequate coverage. In this paper, we apply fuzzy logic system to...

Hybrid Key pre-distribution scheme for wireless sensor network based on combinatorial design

Key distribution is an important problem in wireless sensor networks where sensor nodesare randomly scattered in adversarial environments.Due to the random deployment of sensors, a list of keys must be pre-distributed to each sensor node before deployment. To establish a secure communication, two nodes must share common key from their key-rings. Otherwise, they can find a key- path in which ens...
